Hello

My name is Breanna Hill, and I am a student at the University of Maine, where I study microbiology and marine science. This has afforded me the opportunity to take an internship in Alaska with the Alaska SeaLife Center to study various marine mammals in their natural environments. In my past experiences, I've been able to participate in the videography stages of a wildlife documentary focusing on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in the elk populations of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

My Story

Traveling has always been an important part of my life. I spent my formative years moving up and down the west coast of the United States and a few countries, all the while learning to appreciate the unique nature of every stop along the way. Inspired by the advantageous nature of my childhood travels, I sought out to make the most out of my secondary education. Exploring places such as Montana, Hawai'i, Maine, and now Alaska has afforded me with a series of unimaginable experiences including discovering a fascination with prions through CWD in elk, studying the morphology of shark skin, and participating in assessments with the Stranding Network. In this pursuit, I've been grateful to gain these experiences and lucky to make a network of friends along the way.
